Park City’s Egyptian Theatre goes dark

A photo from the Egyptian Theatre puts a brave face on a tough situation.

Live theater has been a staple of Park City dating back to the late 19th century. At the time the town wasn’t much more than the mines and the businesses that supported them, but even then the pioneering town valued the performing arts. Since 1926 the most prominent venue for  live entertainment in Park City has been The Egyptian Theatre on Main Street.

Unfortunately, the famed venue has gone dark, and it may not be until Sundace 2021 (or later) that we will see audiences return. Here’s the last message posted on ET’s website.

Due to COVID-19, the Historic Egyptian Theatre is currently in “hibernation”. We continue to postpone shows till it is safe for our patrons to return to our intimate theatre. If you have the means, please consider donating or becoming a Pharaoh for a tax deduction by clicking the donate button below. Although we will be shuttered, we are NOT gone or out of business. Contact us: 855-745-SHOW (7469) or email us feedback@parkcityshows.com. The Show Will Go On!
